The presentation of Il parco della contessa

On Wednesday, 12 August, I had the honour of being invited to Cison di Valmarino, as part of Artigianato Vivo, to present Il parco della contessa.
It was a very emotional evening. Many people came to listen, including many old friends who had known and cared for my dad. It was wonderful to see them there, together, sharing a moment that for me held such special meaning.
Some of my dad's former students were there too. Even many years after graduating, they still remember him. Seeing them there made me think about how long the traces we leave in the people we meet can remain.
It was particularly moving to see some of them become emotional while we were talking about the book, or during the musical accompaniment that Davide Camerin gave us.
In those moments, I had the feeling that Il parco della contessa was no longer just the book I had completed from my dad's notes. It had become something shared: a story coming back to life through the people who had known him, cared about him or had, in some way, been part of his life.
This is exactly what I hoped for when I started the Casa Donatalina project: to keep my family's words alive and to continue sharing emotions through books.
Because perhaps this is precisely what stories can do: bring the past and the present together and, sometimes, bring the people who are no longer with us back beside us, if only for a moment.
